Qigong (or ch'i kung) refers to a wide variety of traditional cultivation practices that involve methods of accumulating, circulating, and working with energy within the body. Qigong is sometimes mistakenly said to always involve movement and/or regulated breathing; in fact, use of special methods of focusing on particular energy centers in and around the body are common in the higher level or evolved forms of Qigong. Qigong is practiced for health maintenance purposes, as a therapeutic intervention, as a medical profession, a spiritual path and/or component of Chinese martial arts.

The qi in qigong means air in Chinese, and, by extension, life force, dynamic energy or even cosmic breath. Gong means work applied to a discipline or the resultant level of skill, so qigong is thus breath work or energy work.

Candice has over 15 years of martial arts experience with specialized study in the internal arts of Kung Fu (Qi Gong, Taiji) with her Shifu, Master Liu Xiangyang - a 31st generation Shaolin Master (Hunan Province). Candice holds traditional Shaolin Qi Gong classes (also incorporating traditional Taiji movements) for her patients within a class model and works with patients on an individual basis during treatments with Medical Qi Gong and breathing exercises (according to the conditions of the patient).

These group classes are medical classes and are not open to the public. If you are interested in classes open to the public Candice recommends Sifu Anthony Korahais, an exceptional Shaolin Kung Fu instructor and medical Qi Gong practitioner who holds group and private classes in Gainesville.
